This PVC  decking project in Midlothian Va consisted of removing all existing deck boards and railings. We added extra framing for installation of the perimeter border and the angled decking. The products that we used on this project are Timbertech Evolutions PVC and composite  decking and white Radiance railings  http://www.timbertech.com/.  The decking was installed using Tigerclaw hidden fastener system http://www.deckfastener.com/.  All toe kicks, risers and band boards are covered with PVC white 1 x material.Evolutions is a new hybrid decking which incorporates composite decking as the core and a PVC coating to the exterior for a more durability decking option than traditional composite.

Framing for this 12′ x 18′ pressure treated deck in Chesterfield Co Va. is now ready for the new decking. The deck was installed on matching brick piers and bolted to the home by 1st changing the TJI rim board and installing a new pressure treated band board. The bands are 2 x 10 and the floor joists are 2 x 8 spaced at 16″ on center. All the fasteners to install the deck framing and decking boards are hot dipped galvanized. Here are final photos of a pressure treated deck in the Summerford/Collington neighborhood in Chesterfield Co. We matched the existing framing with 2 x 10 beams and band boards. Floor joist are 2 x 8′s and the decking is 5/4 x 6 ran at an opposing angle to the existing deck for a herring bone effect. Railing must withstand 200 lbs of force and consist of 2 x 4 runners with 2 x 2 beveled pickets spaced at 3.5″ as set forth by the Virginia uniformed Building code. http://www.dhcd.virginia.gov/StateBuildingCodesandRegulations/PDFs/2006/2006_VirginiaConstructionCode.pdf. Here are some progress photos of a pressure treated deck in the Collington neighborhood in Chesterfield Co. We matched the existing framing with 2 x 10 beams and band boards. Floor joist are 2 x 8′s and the decking is 5/4 x 6 ran at an opposing angle to the existing deck for a herring bone effect. Here are some completed photos of an existing deck that we have torn down for a new pressure treated deck that is the same size as the existing deck. We removed  the existing deck in a fewhours and place all the old deck debris was placed in our dump trailer. Check our post from 09/01/10 and 09/07/10. The old deck was hauled off  to a local landfill for proper disposal. We have dug the footings and will be starting the new deck immediately. Our new pressure treated deck is built with concrete footers, 6″ x 6″ supportpost, 2″ x 10″ beams and band boards, 2″ x 8″ floor joist, 5/4″ x 6″ decking boards. The hand railings consist of 4″ x 4″ rail post with 2″ x 4″ runners for pickets and 2″ x 2″ picket guard railings. Final photos of a ground level deck and pool pump house in Richmond Va. We used 6 x 6 support post on a 12″ x 12″ solid footing. Lumber is pressure treated and was installed with engineered framing fasteners. Decking is 5/4″ x 6″  and is installed with hot dipped galvanized nails. The pump house is framed with pressure treated lumber and the exterior is covered with vinyl siding and aluminum cornice and custom bent roof panel. This project consisted of removing and disposing of the existing pressure treated landing and replacing with a larger multi angled deck. The new deck has tan vinyl railings and tan vinyl lattice. Railings have aluminum stiffeners for safety. Please contact us for your deck or other future project.

The top photo is the existing landing that was built when the home was constructed. Years of weather and no maintenance made this front deck landing a hazard for the home owner and guests to enter the home via this entrance.

The bottom photo is  the newly installed deck landing that replaced the original deck that was a safety hazard. The new deck landing was built with pressure treated lumber. All local and state permits were filed for and inspections passed.
